Wallbox and Atlante, a company of the NHOA Group dedicated to developing the largest fast and ultra-fast charging network in Southern Europe, 100% enabled by renewables, have teamed up for a groundbreaking initiative to revolutionize electric vehicle charging in the heart of Milan.
Challenge:
CityLife, a prominent urban regeneration project in Europe, aimed to integrate fast-charging infrastructure into its sustainability strategy. The challenge was to introduce cutting-edge EV charging points in a space frequented by over 10 million visitors annually, creating an essential nexus for the future of electric mobility. The initial phase involved installing two Supernova chargers with a total of four charging points, addressing the growing need for convenient and rapid EV charging.
Solution:
Leveraging its expertise in fast and ultra-fast charging networks, Atlante collaborated with Wallbox to introduce the Supernova DC fast chargers at CityLife. These chargers, with a 150kW output (currently operating at 60kW), represent a leap forward in EV charging technology. The station, open 24/7, features two chargers, for a total of four points of charge providing users with a seamless and efficient charging experience. Additionally, the charging station will be co-branded with BMW and MINI, ensuring a robust and well-recognized infrastructure.
Lastly, thanks also to the partnership with Mastercard, an innovative totem will enable to pay via POS directly with a debit, credit, or prepaid card, thus offering greater ease of use and price transparency.
As part of a broader collaboration with CityLife, Atlante will also install a photovoltaic system covering the new CityLife padel center, the Atlante Arena. This forward-thinking initiative aligns with the vision of creating an “energy community” within CityLife, focusing on decarbonization and sustainability.
Outcome:
The inauguration of the Atlante fast-charging station marks a significant milestone in the CityLife project. Users and visitors can now experience the future of electric mobility, recharging intuitively in minutes amidst the stunning urban complex. With plans for expansion to 12 new fast and ultra-fast charging points pending administrative approvals, this initiative paves the way for a sustainable and efficient energy ecosystem in Milan.
Stefano Terranova, CEO of Atlante, said, “CityLife is one of the most important urban regeneration projects in Europe with a clear sustainability strategy. For this reason, it is a pleasure for us to inaugurate today the first fast-charging points, allowing users and visitors to experience the ‘future’ of electric mobility, recharging intuitively in just a few minutes in an exceptionally beautiful environment.”
Gabriele Tuccillo, CEO of Atlante Italia, added, “This station in CityLife perfectly represents the union of values between Atlante and the iconic place where the station is located, the continuous pursuit of sustainability and innovation, speed and design with excellent partners such as BMW, MINI, and Mastercard.”
