Frankfurt, November 25, 2020. The German Design Award, one of the world’s most renowned design awards with a far-reaching reputation, has recognized Wallbox Quasar in the “Excellent Product Design – Automotive Parts and Accessories” category for its 2021 edition.

The awards are the German Design Council’s premium international prizes and are celebrated globally.  The German Design Awards 2021 commended Quasar’s design and innovation with a “Special Mention” from more than 5,300 entries across 69 countries.

Quasar is the world’s lightest and smallest DC bidirectional charger, and the only one designed for the home with features like facial recognition and gesture control. These innovations exponentially increase the user experience by weaving world-class innovation into daily life.

“At Wallbox we are immensely proud to receive this award. Design is at the core of our product development strategy, and being recognized by such a prestigious organization like the German Design Council motivates us to continue creating products that combine proprietary technology with world-leading design to give our users the best EV charging experience possible.”

Enric Asunción, Chief Executive Officer of Wallbox

The Quasar has been an award-winning product since its presentation at CES this year, -where it was recognized as one of the most innovative products of the year by 6 publications, including the Best of CES by Engadget award in the Transportation Technology category. It has also received several international accolades that have contributed greatly to strengthening its reputation as a world-class product and a game-changer for the electromobility industry.

Wallbox Quasar was engineered to transform electric vehicles (EV) into powerful energy sources. The bidirectional charging technology allows users to charge and discharge EV to power their home or the grid with their car battery. The proprietary bidirectional technology unlocks EV by converting it into an energy storage unit that can replace or add capacity to a home battery. The EV can power the user’s home or vert energy back into the grid. The award will be presented at an award ceremony on 19 February, 2021, in Frankfurt am Main as part of the Ambiente 2021 trade fair.
