Cars of every conceivable color line the entrance to the Real Club de Tennis, one of Spain’s premier tennis clubs, on the fringes of Barcelona. But it is not the shiny motor engines that are capturing the attention of the eager tennis fans as they queue to enter the ATP Tennis tour, hosted at the club last month. Instead, people stop to take in the parade of Wallbox chargers snaking along the main entrance, a carefully ordered display showcasing “the power behind” the ATP’s top players.
Connecting with Sports Fans and Supporting Athletes
But the temple of chargers at the front of Real Club de Tennis is not just for show. The setup was designed with two audiences in mind: one is to connect with the legions of sports fans attending the ATP tour, and the other is to support the players themselves. Wallbox was thrilled to be the official charging partner for the event, meaning the athletes relied on Wallbox’s suite of chargers to fuel their cars while they powered up on the courts.
Wallbox’s Campaign Shines Amongst Tennis Stars
Speaking of the courts, the luminous orange surface was the perfect backdrop for Wallbox’s new campaign video to play on loop on the screens spread across the arena. The footage sprung to life above the players’ heads as they sipped on water and contemplated the next game under the temporary relief of an umbrella. While the athletes recharged, Wallbox fueled their next moves.
Wallbox, which started as a simple idea between friends and ex-Tesla employees in 2017, is now a global powerhouse in EV charging, with a suite of products for fueling cars at home, businesses, and in public spaces.
Wallbox Cheers on the Tennis Champions
Like the vying champions on the tennis courts, Wallbox has a deep understanding of what it takes to be the best on the circuit – and the charging company was there to cheer on all the players from the Wallbox seats alongside valued partners and brand ambassadors.
A true highlight of the tournament was watching Carlos Alcarez take on the mighty task of winning on home soil for the second consecutive year.
The 19-year-old Spaniard made a promising start to the European clay swing by comfortably beating Nuno Borges in the first round on Tuesday, April 18.
On Thursday, April 19th, he backed this up by fighting a tough final set to beat fellow Spaniard, Roberto Bautista, in a nail-biting match, winning 6-3, 7-5.
In the quarter-final, he faced off against Alejandro Davidovich, the world No 38 from Malaga, winning 7-6, 6-4, and then comfortably beat Brit Dan Evans 6-2, 6-2 in the semis.
Triumphs and Victories on the World Stage
On Sunday, April 23, Alcarez took home the top prize after beating current world No 5, Stefanos Tsitsipas, in a thrilling final. The world No 2 prevailed 6-3, 6-4 to secure the first title defense of his career and improve his head-to-head record against Tsitsipas to 4-0.
Alcaraz is now considered tipped to reach the French Open finals against Novak Djokovic, amid the fitness struggles of Rafael Nadal. The Grand Slam, which kicks off this Monday (May 22nd), could be the second major win for the 19-year-old following his triumph at the US Open last year.
Wallbox also faces many exciting challenges in the coming months. With multiple product launches coming this year, we’ll be looking to champions on the court to provide us with some serious inspiration. In return, we will be powering the players up in some major tournaments around the world. Stay tuned!
